Mostly working on paintings for a wonderful gallery I'm in in Durham, but definitely wanted to do a little nighttime sort of daily painting.

Another tiger, because they are enormous and magnificent creatures. With weird stripes and very thick whiskers. Also if they have access to a walkway over the humans they will totally use it to scare the living daylights out of the humans, like any self respecting kitty cat.

This odd little daily painting is the exact same size as my usual one.... just a very different approach to scale in the composition!

I'm working on a larger painting that needed sea turtles, so I painted this one to think through how the others will work! I love how powerful they are.

It's all about the birds and the sea creatures lately, isn't it? And birds that are sea or water creatures too.

I reworked this little hummingbird painting, adding a sprig of my new favorite hummingbird plant- coral honeysuckle- and rather a lot of bright springtime sunshine.

Tiger close up! It is amazing how enormous these animals are. And this was the look on the Mama tiger's face right before a dramatic run and pounce incident!

Finding Love

Question for the day- how on EARTH have I never painted a happy couple in robot anglerfish form? This is amusing me tremendously. And I am totally putting it up on redbubble in addition to etsy because people need to have the option to use this for anniversary and valentines cards, right?

Nature Sketches Fabric

So..... I'm actually out of town getting artistic inspiration and whatnot, so I'm posting these ahead of time, and you're going to get a run of some fabric patterns I designed. I LOVE this one. It's all flora and fauna native to North Carolina and surrounding areas, and scans of sketches I did and just all-around awesome. The fabric is available through K's Closet in Hillsborough.

Mother and Child

A portrait I'm rather in love with- I wanted to try something brushy and atmospheric, inspired by the Sorolla paintings I've been studying, and this is what came.

A quiet street, a glowing streetlight. Why do we insist on those things? Still, they make for interesting shadows.
